Honoring Women’s History Month: Celebrating the Strength and Impact of Women

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate and remember important ways women have helped shape our world. For many years, women have led movements, shaped communities, and broken barriers, to make the world a better place. Their stories are not just moments in history, their hard work and achievements affect us every day.

At Bright Start Connect, we recognize the invaluable role women play in shaping young families and communities. For Women’s History Month, we celebrate the strength, wisdom, and dedication of mothers, caregivers, early educators, and providers who nurture the next generation. This month we honor the contributions of women past and present while empowering those caring for young children today.

As an organization led by a woman CEO, we recognize the importance of being a model for change, just as so many women before us have been. Women have used their voices, passion, education, grit, and team work to change the world. 

Why Woman’s History Months is Important

Women’s History Month is about celebrating great women by remembering their contributions and sharing their stories. Many of these women may not have their names in the history books, but their hard work helped everyone. It’s important to share these stories with our children to teach them that they too can make the world a better place.

We also encourage you to think about the women in your own family who have made a difference. Honor the special things your grandmother, mother, aunt, or sister has done. Whether they were teachers, caregivers, leaders, or strong supporters of others, their stories matter. Share them with your children, so they can learn about the women in your family who made an impact. By doing so, we make sure their legacies live on and continue to inspire the next generation.

Fact Corner: 

• Women’s History Month started as a week! It started in 1978 and was expanded to a full month in 1987.
• March was chosen for a reason! It includes International Women’s Day (March 8), which celebrates women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality around the world.
• This year's Women's History Month theme is: "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations."  

Women have always been leaders, and they will continue to lead. This month lets reflect, celebrate, and pass on the important lessons from those who paved the way.
